who has heard of jamaican patties? need to hear from yes and no's!! if yes, do you know where they're sold?

You can get them from chip shops but they're not great.

But you can also usually get them in any carribean food shop. There's one on

You can also get a nice vegetarian variety in Holland and Barrett

For the best patties, you need to go to a West Indian take away restaurant.
You find these in black areas, like Brixton, Tottenham and Harlesden.
These patties come in a variety of; beef, lamb, chicken, saltfish and vegetable.
They are delish and cost around a pound each.

Yep, Harlesden represent. The proper homemade style from the takeaway on Church Road, Mmm-mmm! May as well get a half of jerk chicken while you're there!

Oh yum! Jerk chicken and coconut rice...

There's a pub in Sydenham next to a big ladbrokes does a nice jerk chicken.

Also, on Lordship Lane there's a really nice carribean place too. Fairly sure there's a couple in Peckham too but not been to them.

Oh yes. Jamaican patties are a staple in the community of my school. There is a high carribean population. We even sold them as a fund raiser in the school and made a killing. (Until the stupid administration shut it down.) The kids sneak these in all the time and know to give one to the teacher to keep the peace!!! Love them. Never had a lamb one though. Will have to ask my students.

Talking of patties, jerk chicken and West Indian food in general, my mate at work used to make us curried goat or mutton with rice & peas and dumplings. It was divine ;-)
