Ridgeway - I have never heard of it so this will be a total guess - let me know if it sounds like it would fit in the recipe please.

My guess is that it is green chillies or green chilli sauce.

I think it may be Portugese or Spanish - maybe someone else can translate it.

Whats the context? Whats the recipe?

Not got any info on this - GourmetSleuth, FoodReference & EGullet sites and some of the older recipes books have no mention. Certainly something green - is it a pesto / salsa of some sort?

As rightly said. '- verde' is green, but 'conde - ' is a Spanish or Portugese royal title, so is it a brand name for a sauce perhaps? or one from a household that got into the general useage?

Not sure of any of this but the recipe is basically a tuna pasta bake...I think it is a jar of something in liquid ...? peppers or chillis ?? that used to be sold in Waitrose but sadly no longer!
