Hi.
I'm planning to make curry and rice for tea tonight, but as we wiil be eating at different times, is it possible to keep the rice hot once it has been cooked? If I cook it, drain it, then put it in the oven, (covered), will this be ok, or will it make it all stodgy?
Any other ideas gratefully recieved. x

i cook and drain rice, then put it in a dish with a lid. when it's needed i microwave it and fluff it up with a fork. i have a feeling if you put it in the oven it may just go stodgy, but i'm really not sure.
Drain it in a colander then rinse with boiling water.
Rest colander on the top of a saucepan of boiling water to keep it hot, you can put a lid over the rice to keep it moist.Rinse once again with boiling water when you are ready to serve it.

We all eat at different times too. What I do, is cook the rice, drain it, rinse it under cold water to cool it quickly, and rinse off excess starch, drain again and put it in a bowl and cover with cling film. When complete cold, put it in the fridge.
When we come to re-heat a portion. Put a portion of rice on a dinner plate, add a sprinkle of cold water over the rice and reheat in the microwave for up to 2-3 minutes until piping hot.
