Really! Wont they be a little hard if I leave it that late? I want them just right, you know, mushy, tasteless and inedible, just like my mums!
haha, bless....maybe you should have a word with Vinny - aka the sproutmeister...I think he keeps his simmering all year round.
War - that is not a tradition here like it is in the UK - but from what I have learned here on AB - you should probably be starting the ones for Christmas 2008 just about now:)

After eating the bullets disguised as sprouts that the mum-in-law dished up on sunday Ive decided to take my own sprouts for the xmas dinner at hers.

Ive just turned the stove on :)
I;ll put mine in too, hopefully they will be burnt and inedable and I'll have to throw them away

Try cooking them properly.

Remove the manky outer leaves.
Stick them in a small bowl with a knob of butter.
Bung 'em in the micro for two minutes.

They're actually edible.

WHAT!! too late now im afraid mine have been simmering since first of september, must be the month that starts with s

Lol - think you've picked the perfect time!
ooh i love sprouts
Me too - but not microwaved ones. Put some in once, and they exploded all over the oven!!!
I LOVE sprouts!!
That's what Christmas is about...............sprouts boiled to within an inch of their lives - gravy made with the water, the mithane produced on Christmas afternoon should be bottled and sold as a cold cure!
but they are a bit windy tho eh !
Thats when you know it's Christmas Day. All the windows open because all the clean air has been used up.
lol my wee brother slags me every year
Thats bad it should be seen as traditional as opening the pressies. We have to buy a whole net it usually works out that we have about fifteen each. About half an hour after the dinner, just as the Queen speech is starting, it starts with rumbling noises coming from low in the stomachs.........you just know what happens next.
well the word is there is a shortage this year ,why do yuu think mine are all set to go? get down that market tomorrow
