Creamola Foam - Anyone else miss it ???

Does anyone else miss Creamola Foam as much as me ? It was discontinued in 1998 due to " the high cost of production and low level of sales " ( so say nestle ) but i'm interested to know if people DO still like this drink and would welcome the return of it.

I loved it when I was a kid. Though goodness knows what kind of rotgut it was made from!

I notice Nestle word. For years of course it was made by the small Scottish Creamola Custard Company. They would be ruthless in weilding the axe.

I only mentioned Nestle in reference to Creamola Foam because although I am from Scotland and know where it originated from , a lot of people I know from various parts of the UK seem to associate it more with Nestle - most probably because Nestle held the rights to it for so long , up until selling out to Brands Partnership ( based in England )who decided in their infinite wisdom that they did not wish to market Creamola Foam due to the alleged high cost of production and low level of sales. I find this incredulous , as so many people I know , for various reasons , are desperate to see the return of this fab drink. There is an on line petition to save it which so far has accumulated 1197 signatures. Does anyone know someone who still has a tin or even knows HOW it is made ? Would be great if we knew the recipe !Someone must have a tin kicking about somewhere.

This was a Legendary drink/substance, I say substance as I often preferred to eat it more like sherbet style sweetie, though I did drink it occasionally, my main memory though is taking it on a camping expedition with my school and just eating the stuff - it was cold, and rainy, but eating the Creamola foam was the ultimate energy boost. We used to have some in our house, but I think it went hard and it got thrown out. That was fairly recently though. Also, I used to work in Tesco, and I did have people ask me where it was on the shelves, but i couldn't explain it's disappearance, that must've been around the year 2000.

Do you remember what the flavours were? I just remember the little boxes being coloured, I think pink and yellow, maybe there were more, but those were the 2 I can remember - and the strange kids on the boxes drinking it.

My brother and I used to eat it too dwm -it's funny just how many kids did eh ? Tasted wicked though ! The flavours I remember were raspberry which came in a pink ( I think ) tin and orange which came in an orange ( funnily enough ! ) tin. I thought that there was a lemon one at one point but my hubby disagrees. He says that there was only ever orange and raspberry. I miss it so much and i'm hoping that someone somewhere still has a tin of it so that i can find out what exactly goes into it.

30 years ago I worked in the factory which made the tins. Three flavours - raspberry, lemon, orange. ISTR the ingredients were sugar, colouring, flavouring, and I think citric or tartaric acid and baking powder to make the fizz.

I loved it....it was everything nice about my childhood...going to my granny's on a sunday etc.....I wouldn't think it was made from anything worse than the rubbish they shovel into soft drinks now.

Extract from Scottish paper this Sunday reads - "The formula for Creamola Foam, a sugary drink which hooked millions of young Scots in the 1970s and 80s, is missing. Brands Partnership, a Leeds-based dried foods firm, was keen to market Creamola Custard and bought the series of brands from Nestl�. But in their enthusiasm to get their hands on the custard, the company did not acquire the formula for the fizzy drink, which was made by adding a sherbet-like powder to cold water and stirring frenetically while the drink foamed". So when they find the recipe, they may still put it into production.

I saw the article in the Scotland on Sunday too, and I have to say the woman from Brands didn't sound too enthusiastic about bringing creamola back, even if they found out how to make it. We have some left in our cupboard - orange and raspberry!- but would be loathed to hand it over for no yummy comeback.

Please Bring back Creamola Foam as another genration needs the chance to try the delight of it. Remember eating a packet of refreshers and drinking creamola foam was like a volcano in the mouth.

I was interested to see the Scotland on Sunday article about Creamola foam. In 1948 my father became the transport manager for Creamola Food Products, later to become the factory manager. As you can imagine my sister and I were brought up on 'the foam'. We used to leave the spoon in so that we could give it another stir while we were drinking it.Like most people we also used to eat it raw. The company at that time was privately owned and I think it still was when my father left to emigrate to Canada in 1958. I think it was very short sited of the new owners to drop a product which,as far as I was concerned, was better than Scotlands other National drink, Irn Bru.

i would certainly love to see it back in the shops, i don't aggree with so called experts that todays kids wouldn't like it, how could they not, it was so versatile as you could drink it or eat it, it was great for diping licorice in! flavours were raspberry, orange,lemon and latterly cola, what a great way to get todays kids to drink more water,ok not the best way, but it was worth a try.

Creamola Foam......ah the memories flood back. When summers were long and.........hot. Nothing slaked a thirst like a very tall glass of strong (three heaped spoons) COLD lemon creamola foam.

YesI remember it well - it brings back loads of memories of summer holidays spent with my granny as she always bought in a tin for me. I drank it continuously as a youngster. I think the last time I saw a tin of creamola foam was at a party I went to around 1985 - someone had bought along a tin for themselves as a soft drink since they were driving - I took a glass at the time and the memories came flooding back. I say they should bring it back - it was very refreshing and a bit different from the soft drinks of today.

I didn't even know it had gone, but it was brillaint. I used to mix it with cream - sounds odd, but it was gorgeous - and may explain my weight as a teenager!!

Don't know quite how high in calories creamola foam was . . maybe they could do a sugar-free version for the 21st Century? ANYWAY, the BEST way to use it was to just sprinkle the powder lightly on to ice cream. It turned a pudding into a party! See today's Record some woman has a petition for its return as she has pregnancy cravings for it. Anyone know where to go to sign this petition?

I had creamola foam when i was growing up and my kids loved it to now my daughter is pregnant with twins and is craving for creamola foam and i have tried everywhere to get it but cant get it anywhere please bring it back.
