MIght possibly be Kool-aid.

kool-Aid. I think its a squash-like drink made up of a lot of artificialness and not much else.

A staple of kids in the summertime. Kool-Aid (as suggested by filthiestfis is an artificailly flavored soft drink in a powder form to mixed with water. Used to be that one added sugar but now that's already included.
It became somewhat infamous and produced a catch-phrase in 1978 following the mass suicide in Jonestown, Guyana by the so-called Reverend Jim Jones and several hundred followers of the People's Temple. To commit suicide they all drank lime colored/flavored Kool-Aid laced with cyanide. Since then, an avid or fanatical follower of any cause is said to have "drunk the Kool Aid"...
