We had them for school dinners.

Rose tinted spectacles give a nostalgic warm feeling that they were lovely.

Honest thinking reminds me they swam in grease, and I always felt a bit queazy all afternoon, as they sat in a greasy lump in my stomach.
Love them!!! We have them with a big salad, so it's half healthy at least!!
They're oozing in oil!!!

Not very healthy at all!!!!
When done correctly theyre delicious - especially with chips!
remind me of school, lovely!!

wouldnt eat them now though
Not my cup of tea. I don't like any meat products in batter. I'll stick with fish.
Never did me any harm ...when cooked properly by one's Mum in home made batter they were very nice with chips and peas We lived on stuff like this as kids.
Don't fancy those insipid looking things they have in the chiller cabinet now though .
Mmmm... tasty... love 'em... just degrease 'em first ;o))
I also remember having them at school. I used to quite like them but always felt sick for the rest of the day.
I also remember them from school dinners and, like Jillius, would feel sick for most of the day after eating them. This was of course in the days before you had a choice for school dinners so it was spam fritters or nothing. They were so greasy!
Felt hungry, saw this post, remembered I had a tin in the cupboard so I made some with a couple of fried eggs. Yum!!
Doesn't make me feel hungry..........quite the opposite !!
Yuk
Well both in a way.

I loved spam when I ate meat. Spam fried, is a close second to bacon as being the thing that after 28 years I still miss most.

I think that given there is not that much meat in Spam it ought to be reasonably easy to make a vegetarian substitute. But, no one has come up with it. China do you have the answer?
Sorry didn't answer why it is both, got drawn off by reminiscing about Spam

It is delicious so a culinary delight

It tempts you to eat far too much fatty food, therefore is the work of the devil, who for reasons of his/her own wants to collect souls of the fat people

Well I'm inclined to think work of the devil actually but I'venever tried it so I'm not allowed to have an opinon apparently. I've seen it though and it made me retch.

I've never had one, the thought makes me feel queasy. I'm not really into meat that has been played with.

II would say they are work of the devil, purely cos I'm not sure whats in them and they look a bit manky.
Oh, culinary delight - if rather unhealthy!!- but only if home made & not those awful things you can now buy in the supermarket! The batter has to be made with fresh eggs (free range...??) and organic milk. OK, so I'm a bit of a perfectionist, but we only have them once in a blue moon, when I fancy a bit of "comfort" food. Couldn't eat them all the time, but once in a while.....gorgeous!! (With chips & peas!) K
