lol cruella

ooh picallilli on cheese on toast is heaven :)
Think I will try it.
Does it taste like Branston?
Question Author
sorry theonlyone I never saw you earlier

yeah Ive tried asda and didnt like it much cos of the sauce. I will have to give Haywards another try, the last jar I got just had pickled onions in it and no cauliflower or gherkin :(

It doesnt taste like branston cruella, its tangier and crunchier (sorry I have no idea how to explain what it tastes like lol)
cruella picallilli is like a mustard pickle a bit sharp and tangy ...aka pixi ..have tried Tesco sandwich picallilli..
that is lovely .... think you will have to go to a picallilli
tasting evening ...all down to your taste buds ...
Hi there Pixi
Never eat Haywards, although it used to be good it now tastes like crunchy musty socks. So much so that you may think that it is off. Horrible.
Make it yourself, the best recipe I have found is in Isabelle Barrett and Jane Harrops book, 1000 recipes.

I've not tried the tesco one theonlyone, will give it a go.
ta for the tip about haywards tom and jerry :) I think I will ask my fella to make some, he makes lovely green tomato chutney :D

Tesco, Sainsbury, Waitrose, Asda picallili all made at same factory in Derbyshire where they also do the red and brown sauces, mincemeat, pickled onions, pickled red cabbage etc. for the big supermarkets. They don't make Co-op or M and S stuff though. I'd go for M and S myself....if I liked the stuff that is.

try Garners, you can get it in Waitrose, its yummy

thanks seafarer, strange its all made at same place cos I thought sainsburys one was okay but havent done shopping there for a while to get any.

ta for the link 8ball, thats about same price as the stuff I get when I visit the garden centre, its worth paying for if its lovely and if you hide it at the back of the fridge where no one else can find it, it lasts ages :)

thanks christine but I dont think theres a waitrose near us :(

I`ve been pleasantly surprised how nice Somerfields own brand sweet picallili, just finishing my 1st jar of theirs now.
I buy mine from middle farm near where i live its amazing it has the sweetest crunchiest onions in it.
I make picalilli pixi, it's much better than the shop stuff. I find shop stuff often a bit too vinegary and not mustardy enough. If you cant be arsed to do it yourself at the end of the summer me dear, Ill send you a jar.

MY dad gets his from the butchers or the farm stores when he runs out. They're always nice.
Question Author
Thanks brooksy but theres no somerfield near us either, thats what ya get for living in the back of beyond :(

ooh I never thought of the farm badboy, theres a few by us and all sell local produce (bet they sell the same one the garden centre sells) thanks for that.

aww thank you goodsy :D I will admit right now that either I will forget or remember and put it off. I can't wait til the end of summer now lol mwah mwah mwah :D
