...........a lot less ,my local pub is about to raise the beer prices by a further 5p thanks to Alistair Sweetheat. Two weeks ago the prices went up by 10 p a pint because the the breweries upt their prices. I drink bitter, its now 2.35 a pint about to rise to 2.40. Our governmental masters think that by upping the the price of a pint will make a difference to the binge drinking culture. That is utter bullox . Kids dont drink beer, lager maybe but their alcohol intake is by alchopops, vodka jellies shots, I dont know what else, but the whole thing scares me for the future of my country

I don't seem to have dropped dead yet. (i.e. the price of a pint is far from being the most important thing in the world).
I agree that a few pence on the price of drinks won't stop binge drinking. The only way to do that would be to put up the price of all drinks dramatically so that, for example, a pint of beer or lager would cost, say, 10. Are you really advocating that , Col C?
Figure wants to know what 'vodka jellies' are. The answer is 'exactly what it sounds like' ;-)

I see your point regarding binge drinking Chris, but wouldn't that be another nail in the coffin for the common man/woman?
The less well off are already taxed to the hilt, why remove another of our pleasures?
The poor only started to drink because it was safer than the water available, alcohol is a right for the workers, it shouldn't only be available to the financial elite.
In my opinion, education on the evils of excess alcohol should be a priority. Not pricing it out of the reach of the masses. The rich are culpable too.

All these price rises are doing nothing to kerb binge drinking, the landlords will be rubbing their hands at the thought of upping the cost of drinks
It`s the city centre pubs and bars that allow all this sh!t to happen
Any pub or bar that needs doormen on a Friday or Saturday night should be shut down
Ban all them alcopos, vodka jellies etc and sell proper beer
