can i cook a silbverside joint on the BBQ

hi can anyone help. I am doing a BBQ this weekend. Am trying to make things simple and was wondering if i could cook a large silverside joint (2.7 kg) under the hood of my webber bbq, and can someone suggest something to go with it thanks

It's going to take a long time for a piece that size to cook - or more done on the outside then in! Depends how pink you want it in the middle. How about cutting it into thick steaks and cooking that on the BBQ?
Smother the beet in olive oil and mustard for a while before BBQ it. Serve with salad & jacket potatoes & corn on the cob cooked on the BBQ. You can cook fruit on it too (bananas, pineapple, mango)

that's great thanks for all the info. I can't decide whether to 'steak it' or cook it for hours and hours. Worried it will come out like a brick!
Not being funny, but my barbie food always turns out fantastic. You can cook ANY joint, but it's like with large pieces of chicken - cook it in a normal oven first, and then before it's done, take it over to the BBQ. that way, the meat doesn't stay pink inside and horribly uncooked, and the the outside doesn't get burnt to a cinder.
