Sarsparilla was made from the herb Sarsparilla native to desert areas. Some companies, such as Bickfords, are still marketing it under an old-style traditional brand. So it is still available, and likely to make a resurgence, especially in the States, but I don't suppose it will ever match the might of Coke and Pepsi.
