Thanks for reading. She is allergic to milk/dairy, Can I use OLIVIO spread on her sandwiches? It is her birthday soon and I'd like to make sandwiches for her picnic!

I have made an Angel Food cake for her birthday cake as it has no butter. Any other ideas would be great!

Thanks!

Olivio contains whey and buttermilk so she would probably be allergic to it.

Shame! Is there anything else that you know of?
I have a friend (adult) who is allergic to milk and dairy etc. (or lactose intolerant maybe?? I never know the difference) but she is OK with Goat and Sheep products.

I know it is expensive but she has goat butter which is actually very nice without issue or episode.

Thanks for this, but, as she is just a baby, apparently I can't just move on to goat or soya. She would need to have the formula of it first.

Bit of a nightmare!

I just want something sticky to hold her sandwiches together!
What about plain mayo??
I'm sure you know you can't give mayo to a baby - it is made with raw eggs

She is certainly not allergic to eggs and, as we have hens, she does get them. Is there any reason not to give her mayo..? I'm sure that Hellmans is made with an egg powder anyway...
What a nightmare! Only thing I can suggest is there is a fab website called http://www.kidswithfoodallergies.org/ they offer helpful advice and recipes for all types of dietary needs specially designed for kids. Good luck with it hope you find something tasty to make.

Thanks! Will give it a go!
banana maybe

or strange as it may seem and you might hate it but, marmite? (a mates child loved it from an early age)
Really stupid question coming.................

Can a baby be allergic to mothers milk?

And can you make butter from mothers milk???

And yes, as you can tell I am not a father!!!!
Re your question about mayo, they advise you to steer clear of raw eggs when you are pregnant as obviously there is a risk of salmonella. Not sure at what age they advice is safe to eat raw eggs, if it is ever safe. I would imagine it would be safe especially if you made the mayo yourself with the right eggs but best not to risk it if you are not sure.
Abdulmajid, yes a baby can be allergic to mothers milk. No, you can't make butter from mothers milk.

Babies and infants should not be given raw egg or products made from them.

I'm just going to use olive oil! Just a smearing on her sandwiches to bind. Thanks all for your -interesting (!) - comments!
Most shop bought Mayos are made with powdered egg. Just check the labels before buying.
helmans mayo is fine during pregnancy as it does not contain raw egg.

check label for any nasties though
