i always find the staff and the products quite complementing
is it time?
have you ever bought booze from Lidl?

I'm having a cocktail day with my friend and we're contemplating buying the booze from there as it's cheap but is it really awful?!
or aldi...anyone bought any from there?
I'd go to Lidl a lot more often were it not for the constant QUEUES. Their Tomato and Vegetable juices are outstanding, and the Bourbon is not bad. I don't buy cold meats as they seem more loaded with additives than other stores. They were doing beautiful chests of drawers at 40 (I bought 3), small wheeled chests for 20 (another 3), and a spotting telescope for 100. Frozen King Prawns, 2 for 250g and perfect for luxury curries, but the queues are mostly prohibitive.
buying booze from macro or other 'bulk' buy store might be cheap too
Dris what are dulano mini nuggets? are they cheese or meat based, i alternate between the 2 shops, got to watch lidls fruit can be a bit rotten underneath, especially the satsumas and oranges!!!
oh and my bf loves the lidi lasagna trays i love all the gadgets/storage and diy stuff, but I always spend ages making sure the item is good and that i will actually use it I hate buying stuff and not using it!!

Bf got no patience waiting for me though, typical.

The only off put is the odd person that shops in there who smells really bad, it's not one of you lot is it??

-smells own armpit lol

The booze is great -I bought an Italian Liquor type thing a few weeks back -very good !.Aldi and Lidl are right next door to each other in Perth -not a lot between them but I would say that I prefer Lidl.

The nuggets were chicken and vegetables -try them I have wolfed the rest today - well I was just as well to get it over with lol.

The Lasagne trays are brill value as are the Pizzas in the chill -they can be kept for ages -my kids loved them.

I bought Scampi yesterday -2 frozen -had it before and its brilliant.

Whiff -the queues are horrendous -when i am aprroachung them I find myself tutting -not like me lol

O and on the subject of whiff -I have just smelt my oxter (armpit) and it smells of a freshly mown grass or a rose garden -or something else equally poetic what the tee hee !!
The last time In went into Lidl I nearly had an argument with a woman who was behind me at the checkout. She started putting her stuff on the conveyor belt before I had finished taking my stuff out of the trolley and I had no room left. I also bought some meatball things from the chiller which were very salty and oniony and kept on repeating on me for the next 24 hours! Lol

I'm never going in that dump again!

lol TB -not a good experience then !!!
Not good at all Dris. Maybe its the location thats the problem. And them nasty meatball things should be banned. Yuk!!!
Tb i think its trial and error with someone of there stuff, maybe the meatballs were made in outer mongolia where they like there meatballs salty lol, i will try once if i like will buy again, if not dont, struggle with some of there tinned soups yuck!!!
I used to go the one in Southampton, but always reckoned on there being a big queue there. Sometimes we had to wait the best part of an hour, but this is something you come to expect in these discount places. I have been to the one in Shrewsbury a few times, and there is a big wait there as well.
They do excellent smoked salmon but rubbish breakfast cereals with weird names like "little man" Their jaffa cakes are to die for and my staff won't let me buy any other brand, and for the money their booze is excellent.
I think the smell in Lidl's is my mother in law.......she's a regular when shopping for her growed children..........mean bitch!

U can't miss her.......she's the same as the talking caricature puchased in joke shops...........Mine is in the loo!

never been to lidls (aint one near by) but very recently went to iceland for the first (generaly a tesco shopper me) and found things soooo much cheaper - tempted to start doing my groceries there now.
I only go there occasionally for a look at the gadgets , and to buy their Liquorice Allsorts , and yummy bags of baby Jaffa cakes . :-)
I love Aldi - all the fresh fruit and veg are great. The yogurts and desserts are delicious. However, I really go to Aldi for their Anti-wrinkle day and night cream !! I used to buy expensive Loreal cream, but this is just great - my skin is now so soft and my wrinkles fastly reduced. The best thing is - it is only 1.89 how do they do that ?? I should keep quiet as they will sell out if everyone hears about it.
I too use their anti wrinkle cream,2 or 3 magazines have done surveys and they have come out on top, beating the expensive ones.
I love going to Lidl's, lots of lovely foreign food, especially German, that I can't get anywhere else and big jars of rollmops!! The veg is local, fresher and cheaper. Dont like their meat though!

It's not all cheap and nasty stuff, although a fair bit is. You have to choose with care.

No queus in our Lidl's!!!
