Heat a little olive oil in a pan then add chopped onions and a knob of butter when oil starts to smoke a little. Turn down the heat and keep stirring, so the butter doesn't burn. (you don't have to use butter if prefer just oil, but gives a nice flavour) Onions are ready when soft and slightly coloured. Works for me!
I would slice, not chop them.....and I would cook verrrrry slowly and gently til a rich caramel colour. Add a drop of water to the pan if the onions start to stick.
i like to slice them and then cook then in a little bit of butter on about meduim heat....just a tip if u salt the onions at the begining it releases the moisture and natural sugars and they cook faster
I like to boil them after they are chopped then fry a little, mmmmmmm. very tasty. sometimes i just have them boiled and it reminds me of the hotddogs you can get on little stalls in shopping centres.
I like to chop the onions, put them in tinfoil and make like a tinfoil bag, put some butter, salt, pepper and a touch of white wine in with it and put it in the oven or on the barbaque. Mmm mmm good!
I like them slow cooked in butter till soft then turn the heat up and add soy sauce! Cook strirring all the time until they caramelise and there's no misture left in the pan and they're dark! Oooooh!
