Hey guys,

Just been told I am anaemic, I know the usual dark green veg / red meat, but what else can I include in my diet to help get my iron levels back up?

Thanks!

have fresh orange juice with your meal as it help your body to absorb iron from food.
if you google 'iron rich foods' you'll find a lot of information about the best things to eat, which include chocolate!!!
rhubarb and grapefruit are both high in iron
Be aware that drinking tea can stop your body absorbing iron.
Be careful if taking statins.

Apparently they conflict with acidic fruits.
Baked beans are also high in iron
cashew nuts, sun flower seeds, spaghetti, peas, kidney beans, water melon, dates and potato are all good :-)
and wash it all down with a pint of Guiness.
Watercress is high in iron.
grapefruit helps with the absorption of iron but isn't actually an iron-rich food, wheras rhubarb, like tea, actually inhibits the absorption of iron.
eggs are good for iron intake!!!
A nice watercress and sliced orange side salad with a steak!
To add to what another reply said, you need to take in Iron, vitamin C and calcium for each to take effect. If you are missing any of hem, you'll not absorb enough of any of them.
