When I was a little girl-about 10 years ago, I had a collection of a childrens series I have since lost. The books were small and on one page there was the story in detail and on the opposite page there was a simple sentence about the picture for children learning to read. The setting was in a small english town with cobblestone streets. At the end of the street there was a park where a tall green monster lived. The monster could become invisible all except for his ears and eyes. The monster's ears were also exceptionally large. There was an old man who lived in the town and he slept most of the time. Some of the stories in this series centered around children throwing balls into his window and waking him up. I'm sorry i cannot provide more details but I am pregnant and would really like to have this series for my child to enjoy.
Clearing out the attic last month I came across my daughter's collection of Puddle Lane books. She loved them (and I enjoyed reading them to her!!). They were a brilliant series - starting at a level for children learning to read and progressing through the series.
