I found a bright green grub in some green beans. product of Zambia, whilst cooking them!! I returned it to the big supermarket chain, who sent it off, recorded delivery, to be analysed. 6 weeks on, this has been mislaid and I've been offered 30 compensation. I was hoping for a bit more but wondered if I was being greedy and it's a fair offer. Any advice greatly appreciated thanks.
I had a prawn M&S sandwich with a sharp, steel hook in it. they (eventually) gave me 100 in vouchers and some flowers, but they made me feel like I was being greedy!
You may have destroyed a rare moth or butterfly.....I would have locked you in stocks outside throughout the winter and thrown icey water over you till you met the grubs fate.
Thanks for all your answers. I would like to point out to Ethel though that I did not expect compensation it was offered to me as I 'had been inconvenienced'.
I did think it would have been more if I'm honest! I was actually doing a roast on the Sunday and drained the beans only to find a bright green grub which put us right off eating! On the Monday I spoke to the manager who didn't even offer me a refund for the beans! Sainsbury's didn't bother to contact me once during these 6 weeks and it was only when I went back to the branch that they admitted the grub had been mislaid and offered me 30 for my inconvenience - which I said yes to by the way.
