I used to make it when I made bread.
Get some dough, roll out flat, smear top with lots of lard (or I suppose vegetable fat), and plenty of brown sugar, syrup or treacle. Dust with allspice and sprinkle with raisins. Roll up into a sausage shape, put on a baking tray, let it rise a bit, then bake with the rest of the bread.
Then slice and eat (hot or cold), and afterwards run about a lot till you stop feeling guilty.
