ummm, good when you let the meat rest, but can hack the meat to shreds!!!
I bought one years ago, I think I used it twice, it must be around somewhere, save your money and just buy a little kitchen devil knife sharpener
Hi 123 --- carving knives are absolutely brilliant.
I've had one for years, and wouldnt ever be without it.
I could never ever cut meat again with a sharp knife -- it has to be the electric one !!!
I`ve used a electric carving knife for years, and find it very good and never needs sharpening
Had one for a couple of years now, use it every Sunday and wouldn't be without it.
Yes and 100 times yes. It cuts as thickly or thinly as u like and u avoid all those shredded bits. Somehow u get more meat (though I know u don't really). Don't have to buy a posh one - mine is basic type and I've had it 10 years.
I use mine to slice fresh baked bread ( yum hot bread with lots of butter )
Surely they are the stuff of 1970's comedy sketches?

Whatever happened to the ritual sharpening of the long, steel blade?

Daddy would lop off his own arm before he would have an electric carving knife in the house.

And I ... haven't got one either.
but you don't cook, Jayne!

welcome back, by the way :o)
oooo i bought mine 20 years ago and it is still working perfectly and i have never had a problem, it has carved 20 christmas turkeys and endless roast joints, I would not be wirhout it!!!! If you carve properly it never ever makes a mess of the meat!!!! Deffo go for one, it's econimical too cos you don;t cut the meat too thickly

I'm not back, sara.

I said I wouldn't post on CB, and I won't, unless the Ed releases Dot.

I'm not a fab cook (okay, a bit rubbish, actually) but I like the Sunday carving ritual. If we sat down for Sunday lunch round at my parents' house and Daddy produced one of those ghastly electric things, I'd get up and come home, and take my chances on my own cooking (which is saying something!).

But, I know he wouldn't ... thank god.

no, I don't think he would either x
sara, do you know him?

Oh, crikey ... he's not a secret ABer, is he?
