Help.....I'm looking for an EASY cookbook!!!

I am 24, and CANT cook at all!!! I can do a couple of simple recipes...honey chicken, lasagne, errrmmm toast!.....all of which is from copying people! I cant even scramble an egg!
I am wanting to be able to cook proper meals for me and my other half and have been looking for a cookbook with SIMPLE recipes....nothing fancy, just traditional type things, with easy to get ingredients!
Can anyone recommend any? all the ones I find are too 'posh' and the meals are too fancy....hope that makes sense !
(I probably shouldnt mention the embarrassing fact that my uncle is Italian and is the head chef in his own Italian restaurant!!!) I certainly have none of his cooking skills!

Hi Tez, sorry to be so late in replying, but I only noticed this weekend that Borders bookshops are selling off a cookbook called ''Tools and Techniques''. Not only advises on the best kind of utensils to have, but contains loads of recipes telling you not only how to do basic things, but why you do it. An extremely useful book, and a bargain at a fiver!
