Does anyone have one of these? Do they really do the job of a kettle? Can you easily, for example, fill a pan of water to boil pasta in? Any design faults? Are they worth their price? Are these about to catch on .& replace kettles or are they just a gimic ......will there be competition & a price drop soon?

* it only really gets the water hot enough for tea and coffee - not boiling.
* if you're using a small mug it splashes (but you could hold the mug up rather than waiting for it to fill on the worktop).
* they're a bit noisy when they're 'rpocessing' the water through. kind of a chugging noise.
* a plus is that the tefal one also filters the water you put in, and it doesn't have to be warmed up
i quite like them, but i wouldn't have one in my kitchen purely because it's not very pretty!!

You can't make tea without boiling water, or use it for anything else that needs boiling water - such as gravy with granules.

From the Tefal website:
Please note that although the Tefal Quick Cup delivers close to boiling water it is not suitable for sterilising items such as baby bottles or making up milk feeds
It heats water to between 80 and 85 degrees - not hot enough for me
