So, our friendly gorcer has a fairly extensive International Foods section, including The United Kingdom... recently I was surprised to find jars of Marmite. I see it referenced on here occasionally and wanted to give it a try. But, forgive me... it's a rather vile looking brown stuff in a very small jar and costs $5.65. Do I live dangerously and throw caution to the wind or walk on by to the French section and buy clafouti or bouillabaisse?
Many thanks!

Marmite has no comparison, although some may say similar to Vegimite if you've ever tried it.
Marmite is the scrapings/by product from the hop/yeast/beer barrels and is fermented and boiled and and and... then jarred (sp?)
I guess you have to invest and make some hot buttered toast and spread a tiny bit on it....
You'll either love it or hate it.
I thought it funny the price of $5.65! you wanna see how much I paid for Old Bay Seasoning!!!! and.... Aunt Jemimas Molasses.
Happy Trying Anyway :D
