The Wolseley in London

I've been reading various reviews on the Wolseley (good and bad) and noticed they add a 12.5 "discretionary service charge" onto your bill. I've actually been given a gift voucher for afternoon tea and champagne so I won't be "paying" as such, but wondered if they'd still add on a service charge for what the amount would have been?! I hear there's a �2 per head charge for something or other too?

And lastly, I know I've been told its smart casual as a dress code - but does that mean you can wear jeans/trainers? Am assuming as long as you don't look a total scruff then anything goes?!!

I think it would be up to you if you left a tip or not. I'm guessing the voucher will cover everything without a tip.

I had tea at the Ritz and it was tie and no jeans or trainers. I imagine this will be similar.

Jeans and trainers are casual. In my opinion smart/casual is a shirt and trousers with shoes that are not trainers. You could always ring up to clarify so you feel comfortable on the day.
