I have saved some of the tins from chocolates such as Roses, Quality Street etc. I was planning on painting them and filling them with homemade cakes/cookies as gifts.

I'm unsure whats the best paint to use. Does anyone know? And also, where to buy this paint?

I did this at Xmas. I used a coat of primer and then decorated the tins using emulsion (I got some emulsion matchpots for 5p each from a sale). I then sealed the tins with a coat of clear varnish.
It kept the kids occupied for days.
How about car aerosols as they're available in a huge range of colours and you can quite often pick up 2nd hand ones at car boots etc ?

Just spray with primer first.
