I wish to make 12 or so small individual trifles, for a party next week. Any advice?,. Just basic jelly fruit coctail custard. I can purchase similar from a supermarket, but fancied making them myself

Ive started using butterscotch instant whip instead of custard.....just as nice imho
if its for adults.... put a little liqueir in the jelly...

mayb malibu........ then grated choc on top of the cream
Could do a chocolate one... slices of chocolate swiss roll intead of trifle sponges, black cherries in place of fruit, chocolate angel delight or chocolate custard and then the usual whipped cream and grated chocolate on top! Oh, and maybe a splash or two of tia maria over the sponge...
my mum makes a really basic trifle at christmas and we love it (actually get it at various times throughout the year by request!).

She uses just a strawberry jelly with some sponge fingers in it. Then puts a layer of peach slices, then quite thick custard then thick whipped cream and a flake sprinkled over the top. Have tried to vary it now and again but this is all the families favourite (and now the grand children!)
