How can I store wine in a garage?

We are downsizing.
In our present house we have stored wine in a large internal cupboard, away from heat sources, thus having a reasonable steady temperature.
The 'new' house has little spare storage, and so we are thinking we will have to store the wine racks in the garage. While I know it is possible to buy electric 'fridge-like' wine storage cabinets, these are expensive, so will be a last resort.
If anyone out there already stores their wine in the garage, would you please tell us how you do it?
All suggestions will be gratefully received!
