Has anybody noticed that the quality of a lot of the fresh fruit, veg and deli stuff has gone downhill since Safeway were taken over by Morrisons?

Absolutely! Not only that but they don't sell any weird food. By that I mean wheat-free and dairy-free alternatives for special diets. My sister's Morrisons in Scotland has already been bought out by Somerfield!!
I like Morrisons for a lot of things but their vegetables are dreadful.  They are not very fresh and do not keep.  I must admit I do miss Safeways for that reason alone.
the tomatoes are gone off within 2 days inthe fridge and got blue bits on them yukky
yes! Quality is crap and can no longer by half the stuff i used to.
Can't help but notice it hasn't gone downhill so much as over a cliff. The mushrooms are tatty crap, the potatoes are actually green before you buy them. The only thing I have managed to purchase that was acceptable was unwaxed lemons. So there you are, come to Morrisons for all you unwaxed lemon needs.
I find that all Morrisons fruit and veg are very short dated to keep the price down, it's the only thing that I don't like about shopping there
Quite honestly the quality of fruit in veg in most supermarkets is pretty awful. Waitrose are about the best but I wouldn't give them any prizes either. I suggest you shop at a market or your local Greengrocer.
flanker..i agree again i am allways agreeing with you..i went to morrisons once and when i got to the checkout with 200 worth of grocerys i noticed mold on the mushrooms and then i really started to look and saw the other veg were poor so i told them to keep the lot..so some person would have had fun putting all my shopping back..i used sainsburys for 15 years but since september i have had home delivery from tesco and everything has been really fresh..i do write notes such as greeny looking bananas please and white mushrooms and to give them their due they oblidge...i am also saving 100 a month by shopping at tesco instead of sainsburys..so it cant be bad...and i havnt got to trample round a store being bodged by all and sundry..morrisons is not good but a lot of low income familys like it as it sells lots of junk which they feed their kids on...mullein
