i work as a social care worker for an intellectual disabilities service, and have done for two years. i recently undertook some work in a community drug team and was suprised to see that they do not get paid for their lunch hour. i get 15min break n 30min lunch n my job paid, didnt realise this wasnt the norm. do most ppl not get paid 4 lunch?
In my experience I've never had formal breaks- just a drink at my desk. I've never seen anyone get paid lunch breaks, even though more jobs seem to expect some work to be done at lunchtime or staff use lunch time to catch up on work
I work 5 x 8 hour days, but as the store is open 9am - 6pm i have to be there all day, and so i have an unpaid lunch hour, i also am entitled to a 20 minute paid break in the mornimg and a 20 minute paid break in the afternoon, supposedly, but i very rarely get the afternoon one, needs of the business means i usually don't take it, but i NEVER miss my 10am break when i have breakfast.
