Outside cooking ideas

I am having a party and want to cook outside. A barbeque is the obvious idea but I fancied doing something a bit different. I was thinking of hiring a spit etc to do a hog roast but I think a whole animal on the spit would upset a few too many of the people coming. I also thought of doing kebabs or roasted chickens but don't know where to start with getting the roasters or kebab machines etc.
So I'm looking for a bit of inspiration from the good cooking people on answerbank. Has anyone got any good ideas for what I could do?
Thanks.

Have you thought about a smoker ?....never used one myself but i know a lot of people who love them.
I went to a hog roast party recently and when I went up with my plate the meat was all cut up and sliced - no 'Hog' to be seen! It was lovely too!
Instead of cooking on a barbecue, do it cowboy style (everyone comes in the gear) and cook round open fires. Everyone can cook their own and make up their own kebabs (the skewer kind).
By the way, a great dessert is ; put a banana sliced in two lengthways onto foil, add a dash of rum or brandy add a few raisins and a dab of butter if liked and close it up and put near to the fire. Each one can do their own as well.

Thanks for your answers.
Hammerman - what is a smoker?
How about a cheese fondue. You can put loads of things to dip in other than bread cubes and surround the table with other little dips and party snacks and wine of course!
(I'm veggie so I probably would be HORRIFIED at a roast animal lol!!!!!)

I should have said that there will be approx 30 people at the party!!
5 fondue sets?
Sorry.
Are you sure about outside? Weather looks too dodgy to me.
If you're feeling energetic and have a big enough garden how about pit cooking. I would love to do it myself and it would be a surprise for your friends.

Firstly you arrange meat and then manage to make good chopped meat then gather all other item and impress your love ones.
But keep one thing in mind that kabab should have spicey in taste.
