Why is margarine..............

In Australia (same in NZ?), to be called Margarine a spread must be at least 80% fat. Anything less than that is an 'edible oil spread'.

In the UK and some other countries, by law, margarine must contain certain ingredients in strict proportions, or it can't be called margarine. For details, see here.

I was at the grocery store & was buying some. Saw none of the tubs were called Margarine. Wondered why, as it used to be called that.
