Water expands when frozen. Thus frozen meat is actually less dense than unfrozen, it that the same mass (of meat) occupies a greater volume when frozen.

Why not weigh some?
No Carlton - they will 'weigh' exactly the same. I used the term 'mass' quite deliberately. Need to go back to your physics books.
