Dear Mark, I'm not going to be of much help as I too have been trying to track this song down for ages. As you say it's an Irish man who speaks out a list of famous writers, musicians, artists etc who are all dead. The classical music in it is the famous bit from the 1st movement of Beethoven's 5th symphony. The chorus, as you say, goes "All dead, but still alive" and I think also says "timeless art". I've got a feeling there are 2 versions, one listing male dead artists, actors etc, and one listing women dead writers etc. I think it would have come out inthe early 1990s and have got a feeling Annie Nightingale used to play it on her request show on Radio 1 in those days. Sorry I can't help more, but maybe this extra info' might jog someone's memory. Cheers, Stella.
