Cholesterol remedy??
6 Answers
Anyone know a good natural herbal remedy for high Cholesterol?
I have been told I have above average bad stuff, but above average good stuff!!
My diet contains very few fried things, I eat fish, chicken, lentils, salmon almost every day for lunch, on wholemeal pitta. I also drink ¼ pint of vinegar a week (honest) and eat half a pound of tomatoes a week. I don’t eat cheese, pastry, eggs, or anything else that is on the bad list! I admit I do try the cheese samples on the supermarket counters, on occasion and that’s a real treat, mmmm. I walk 5 to 8 miles every weekend and hold down a very physical job!!! What more can I say. I have managed to get my Cholesterol down a lot, but the Nurse says “I am still at risk.” Other than go on Statins as they say I should, I would like to try the herbal way first. Any suggestions or ideas on this matter would be a great help. I understand that Vitamin C is a great help also. As a coincidence I have just made 2 pints of Elderberry juice which is high in Vit C. Failing any help I will donate my body to research as I must be an anomaly to mankind!!
Regards.

Doc says I should be ill or dead. Smoke like a chimmney and eat what I want. Tried statins and had really bad side effects. We have two different life styles and you still have high levels. Makes you wonder don`t it.
My cholesterol was quite high, but rather than go on Statins I talked to the doc about trying to control it myself and have got it down to normal with a high level of good cholesterol.
What I have done is largely to stick to a mediterranean type diet, removing fat from meat, plenty of chicken and fish, keep the cheese down, plenty of fruit and veg, and I have been having my cholesterol buster for breakfast - sounds disgusting but it is only guacamole with a twist - half an avocado which are also good cholesterol food, a medium tomato, 10 walnut halves, a ring of red onion, a strip of red pepper and 30 g of whole oats. Blitz in a mini food processor. Also oat smoothies with banana, six dried apricots, 10 walnut halves, and a container of Apricot Benecol, and 30g of whole oats - again blitz in the mini fp. The fruit can be varied to whatever you like.
