Can you cook meringues in the microwave or slowcooker and if so how

Any advice most welcome - I am trying not to switch on my big electric oven more than I have to

i vagueley remember an experiment years ago with meringues in the nuker, they worked of a fashion but weren't chewy just crunchy, its also fun if your add food colouring to the mix

Woozer, If you want to avoid using the big oven, invest in an halogen oven. Best thing I ever did and makes the best lemon meringues. Also does things you do in the slow cooker. Plus jints. roast potatoes - I could go on all day. Good luck E

Thank you all for your help - I have had a go and they are just the job for crumbling into icecream eton mess etc - I have also put a couple to one side sandwiched with cream just to see if they go a bit gooey in the middle
