We are having lots of people over on Boxing day evening this year and thought for a change we would
have lots of Chinese food, to spread the cost we thought we would get little bits each week and freeze
it in the foil containers that it comes in, then it suddenly occured to me is it possible to freeze it and
thaw it out without it going all nankypoo ?
are you thinking of buying take aways and freezing it? thats not going to work. best bet would be to go to as chinese supermarket as its much cheaper , the food is really easy to cook and there will be freezer stuff like dim sum etc so you could buy it over a few weeks if you need to
Thanx for your reply Mccfluff yes it was takeaway we were thinking about as it saves all the messing
about cooking etc. we just wanted to take it from the freezer, let it thaw out during the day then nuke it
in the microwave, I often by Chinese takeaways bigger than what I want on the day, put what is left over
in the fridge and nuke it the next day with no problems but that is different from freezing it.
chinese food though, in the main is best cooked right before serving, it not really and freeze and re heat type of cuisine. you may want to re think, how about making a couple of curries, as you can do these in advance and then reheat on the day, you'd just need to cook the rice
Maybe its not what your looking for, but i can remember "Icelands" doing an extensive chinese range,Cheap, cheerful and not bad tasting, heres a part of it...
- to spread the cost we thought we'd get little bits each week - why don't you just put some money in a pot every week and on Boxing Day pop into the chinese and order everything hot and fresh?
