I adore roasted bone marrow on toast, usually with a simple parsley salad.

BUT - is it safe to eat? The marrow bones I buy are from an organic supplier, sourced from cattle raised and slaughtered in the UK.

Am I at risk from CJD?

Good eating!

According to the latest stats you are more likely to win the lottery than contract CJD. Make of it what you will!
That has really turned my stomach but you learn something new everyday

I can see the point 'they' are trying to make by comparing likelihood of contracting horrific disease with winning millions of pounds, but the point is people DO win the lottery - regularly - which makes it not so reassuring a comparison...

No its a standard way of describing risk (one of 'them' writes)

If something has a fifty fifty chance of occurring you (one) or 'they' commonly describe it as a toss of a coin. CJD is so uncommon as not to worry about it from Bone Marrow.

v CJD - its only about 100 cases so far, and there have been a few thousand big lottery winners. Clearly getting one is much more fun than getting the other.

Please tell me where you get your marrow from in th UK? ([email protected])
