Importing Firefox favourites into IE8

I use Firefox as my default web browser. Sometimes I need to use IE8 to open a webpage and I've noticed that when IE8 opens, the favourites list is empty but it fills with my Firefox favourites within a few seconds.

Is there any way I can get IE8 to keep the favourites in the web browser permanently? I've also noticed that IE8 wants to display the favourites list in alphabetical order rather than the chronological entries I've got in firefox. Is there any way I can make IE8 import my Firefox favourites without putting them in alphabetical order ie exactly as they are in Firefox?

I should have mentioned that my Firefox version is 3.5.6
