I am looking to buy some new cooking pots, saute pans etc. There are so many on the market. I want something mid range pricewise, good quality with thick bases that will cook well and last for years. Any recommendations.

Can't go wrong with a good thick bottom.....
i had some john lewis nes for a wedding present and they still look the same 9 years later. They cook really well
There is only one make you should look at then!! Stellar, last a lifetime and great pans to cook with, quite often at this time of the year you can get them for a bit less in the sales but to me they are worth every penny, my mother has her set for years and they are still as good as ever.
Look for Tefal nonstick then! Around £20.

Are you near any Costco? Their brand of cookware is excellent, one of the best I've ever seen, and reasonably priced too.
