Thanks for that Moucha, you've just reminded me I have some crumpets in the freezer - great idea!

My dad always called them pikelets yogi. I have only just learned to call them crumpets as it confuses the southerners!

I was brought up to call them pikelets as well, but moved south!

My mum alwasy got funny looks as she called what southerners call a clothes horse, a maiden........

Well it is all down to personal choice - I cannot drink sherry without the most terrible indigestion - just like a heart attack. But sucking it through madeira cake off a spoon is another matter!
