It's gone 2.30 in the morning, so I assume some here have been out pubbing it (not me tho -went to see some friends and watched Little Miss Sunshine over a few beers).
Here are my favourites:
Square And Compass - Worth Matravers Dorset (bloody brilliant old place - stone sculptures, wicked pasties and strong cider.
Old Dungeon Ghyll Hotel - Langdale Cumbria (no nonsense bare floor pub that serves Theakston Old Peculier).
The Rifleman - Glastonbury, Somerset (the only pub in Glasto that lets weirdos like me in -unusually good choice on the dukebox too)
...and my favourite local - The Bell - Molesey (Very old crooked building -built c1460, no bloody pull-down football screen and no piped music -so you have to TALK ! Aaagh !)
The Fitzrovia and The Black Cherry. Both locals of mine of a sort. Nice staff, decent drinks, good vibe... Cross Keys where I was last night is nice looking and the staff are great but you do get a substantial portion of w4nkers in there along with the general riff raff like myself.
mustardmit in my youth it was the Hyde Park in Leeds but now I'm a fortysomething I need a fire and a comfy chair with good food and drink..The Old Ferryboat in Needingworth, Cambs gets my vote.
Used to work in the Bell Inn, Studham, Beds and we revisited it yesterday and it was superb, lovely little lights everywhere, very snug and the chairs were good!
