Is there a connection between the depth of the indenation on the bottom of a wine bottle nd the quality of the wine?

Someone told me that the deeper the indent, the better quality the wine is.

These days probably not - the indentation is called a punt - see http://www.cellarnotes.net/punts.htm
Its Called a Punt - if you Google Wine Punt there are lots of explanations and theories about them

Thanks guys

It would appear there is no connection now but there may have been in the past.

I have a case of very expensive wine and they have very deep punts, might be coincidence.
We'll be round to help you assess the concept..........
If a bottle has a deep punt the wine can be stored a lot longer.
