I've Googled, and Googled and googled but nothing tells me if I can make good old bangers and mash with them.

Oh ruddy hell, really Mrs C?

Well i'll have to give them a go as got nowt else in for tea. Suppose the good thing is i'll be out the house when he tastes, spits it out, throws lot in bin and goes McD's instead :-)
B00, they're too sweet for me but my sis loves them. Hope your hubby does, 'cos you're like me - you don't like waste.
The other thing I use them for is dicing and putting in a stew. Make a nice combination when you use a variety of different root veg.
never tried it but i wonder if sweet pot hash browns would work?
put domer chives or parsely in as well, then he'll be poking orange mush with black and green specks.....

i like em baked or as wedges mash just seems to sweet to me, but let mr boo be the guinea pig and you can let us know how it goes.......
errrr *some* no idea where domer came from.....

Heh, will do McFluffy.

I'll give it whirl as mash anyway, as my cupbards are seriously bare so not got the ingredients to do anything else with them really.

Will give a progress update later, I can tell you're all on the edge of your seats in anticipation ;-)
You can also make a sausage casserole with them. Swede is nice with sausage too. Pork tends to go well with sweetish veggies.
If you do mash them...1-they cook way quicker than white potatoes....2-you don't need any milk...just butter or marge, or olive oil....add a bit of a crumbled veggie stock cube instead of salt.
If mrschappie think plain sweet potatoes are too much...she needs to try the American way...roasting them with dark brown sugar.....just about tolerable...or-go all the way-and add mini.marshmallows to them....urrgg

Ooo that sounds ace Vibra, however im limited to what i can do as it has to be put in microwave ot be heated up- deep fried straws will just be like soggy string by then.
I love roasted sweet potatoes!

If you like parnips, then you will love this roasted. I parboil them before roasting.
Hiya pasta. When I holidayed in America, I thought the baked beans tasted like they had sugar stirred in. I've got a sweet tooth, but only for choccie and cakes. {:o)
Hi mrs.c ...traditionally they would've been cooked with molasses and dark brown sugar....so maybe the versions over there are sweeter.
Hi Boo.
I often make sausages with sweet potato mash.
My favourite sausage recipe is:
Sausages
1 baking apple
1 tablespoon pork gravy granules
1 tablespoon of maple syrup (or honey)

Peel & dice the apple and fry with the sausages until both are cooked. Stir in the gravy granules, maple syrup and a slosh of water. Simmer for 2 mins and serve. Delish!

Cheers everyone.

Mrs O, that sounds lovely, but not got any honey or baking apples- i do have ordinary eating apples though :-)
peel them and slice into half inch slices. fry in olive oil over a low heat and shake a couple of teaspoons of curry powder and brown sugar over them as they cook. delicious.
or mash them and stir in some creme fraish, salt, pepper and garlic. put into an ovenproof dish, dot with butter and bake for about 10 minutes.

I'm loving these recipes....but sadly, until I go shopping tomorrow, i have exactly these things to make tea with...

Sweet potatoes
sausages
gravy granuals
Onions
Red peppers
mushrooms...

If it involves any other ingredients, i'm a little bit bu88ered ;-)
Make my recipe using the eating apples. It will be OK without the honey/maple syrup. (Got any Golden Syrup? - That would do as a substitute)

I bought normal spuds from the local shop, so we're now on 'normal' mash and sausages.

Will get some stuff tomorrow to try out some of the above recipes given by you lot, thanks a bunch.

Yours
Boo and a probably grateful Mr Boo.
