can i make my own handbag?

i am absolutely sick of looking for the perfect handbag. I have bought so many nearly-but-not-quite ones! There is always something - the handles are riht but not the size; the frame is right but the fabric is wrong etc.
Is it possible to make your own hand/shoulder bag successfully, do you think? Has anyone tried it?

yes, you sure can. draft out the design on paper. then make a paper template and trace it on the material / fabric. cut out and sew together.

I've made many bags using denim, canvas, and upholstery fabrics. they all came out very nice, and I like the fact that I can wash them.
