...er...and I haven't any jars either!

Can I bung it jars tomorrow?

help!
pmsl, now i'll let you off the jam error (dunno the answer of that one by the way), but jars? What on earth did you think you were gonna put 'em in when you thought "I know, i'll make chutney!"..?
*jam sugar
You're okay to use jam sugar!! it'll 'set' better - keep ot covered overnight, preferably with a clean teatowel, if you use a lid and there's any heat left in you'll get condensation and it'll be runny. Make sure you sterilise the jars, and put them in a warm oven for a few mins before potting up your chutney, top with a cellophane disc and label. Good luck!!

thanks mercia.

Boo - someone brought me some home grown rhubarb. While i was at the shop, i bought some extra sugar - cus i don't like it tart! and picked up the jam stuff by mistake.
Then i thought i could make chutney, which i love!
I would have thought jam sugar would be best as you want a similar consistency don't you?
how's it gone cris, have you made it yet?
