There's a local convenience store in Ipswich that sells drinkable wine at '2 for a fiver' and I still see plenty of '3 for a tenner' deals in supermarkets.
If health campaigners get their way, and a legal minimum price per unit of alcohol is set, the lowest price for a typical bottle of red (9 units) will be £4.50. That's based upon 50p per unit, which is the lowest figure I've seen suggested. Some campaigners have suggested figures between 60p per unit (£5.40 per bottle) and £1 per unit (£9 per bottle).
