can i store chutney in plastic?

my rhubarb has made more than i thought and i've ran out of glass jars. Will it keep in lided tupperware type tubs? It will need a few months to mature.

Glass jars or containers are better. Don't you have any empty coffee or mustard bottles etc.? Run them in the dishwasher (if you have one) or sterilise them the old fashion way and use those. My Mum never buys special canning jars, she always save empty glass jars for whenever she makes preserves.

The chutney might get moldy in plastic containers. Years ago I stored compote in a plastic jar and the top of the compote was covered with green fuzzy mold when I opened it.

definitely not plastic. You should use glass.
