Alcohol Intolerance

My friend T and I often go out and have a few drinks, sometimes one glass of wine, sometimes one bottle, sometimes so many shots that we can't see straight, but no matter how much she drinks, she will always throw up in the morning. Even if she wasn't drunk...
She has tried varying her drinks and cutting out wine but it makes no difference. She can have one glass or 20 and she will be sick.
We went out Saturday night and got very drunk indeed, mixed our drinks and she was sick a few times in the night and once in the morning and then she was fine. Ate a fried breakfast and carried on with the day. Usually this is the case...
However, last night she went out on a blind date and got on really well with the guy. She had 2 and a half glasses of wine (only one of which she bought) and didn't finish all of the half. They were out from about 8:30pm to about 10:30pm and when I picked her up at 10:30pm she seemed hammered! Slurring her words, failling about the place. When we got home she was laying on the floor, saying the room was spinning. She couldn't form her words properly but was managing to talk.
This morning she is constantly throwing up and feels dizzy but she said she doesn't feel hungover and doesn't have a headache, she just can't stop being sick! We work together and I've just had to run her home!

My question is, does this seem like someone who is drunk or could she have had her drink spiked?I know alcohol and her aren't the best of friends but I've never seen her that out of it, and especially not on two glasses of wine.

could of been spiked but how strong was the wine and did she eat before she went out

Hard to say. Was it already arranged that you were picking her up at 10.30?

If you suspect that her drink was spiked and she was raped then maybe the police may be better people to talk to then a bunch of internet strangers? Time is of the essence and the longer you leave it the more likely it will be that when they test her there is no trace or not that much of a case.

Hugo - No-one said anything about rape! She wasn't raped, she was sat in a pub having a drink and when I picked her up she and the guy came out of the pub and he went off to his car and she came and got in the car. She seemed fairly ok in the car but it was when we got home I noticed how drunk she was!
She hadn't eaten dinner but she had eaten a massive lunch and she isn't a big eater anyway.

It wasn't pre-arranged that I would pick her up at 10:30pm. I just said "If it's not too late, give me a call and I'll come and get you"...

Ok sorry ruby I seem to have jumped the gun a bit. So y0u say this *or could she have had her drink spiked?* So you suspect that her drink may have been spiked. What are the main reasons do men spike womens drink?

I was thinking it's very unlikely her drink was spiked if 10.30 was an arranged time. If it wasn't her drink might have been spiked.

Is there a test that could be done?

i reckon she was drunk, if she hadn;t eaten since lunch and wine these days is usually served in big glasses and she may of had two thrids of a bottle without realising!

Ruby isn't asking whether anyone was raped, just about why her friend's reaction was so violent all of a sudden. Answer: I dunno. Emptyish stomach wouldn't have helped (big lunch was probably too far off). Is she taking any pills that might have interreacted? (This happened to me once.)

I must say, in her place I'd be sticking to soft drinks as squarebear suggests.

Don't victims of 'date rape' drugs usually blackout and not recall what happened for a period of time? Don't remember any mention of this in the OP so why was the subject brought up?

How do we know this girl doesn't take the 'recreational' pills that youngsters take these days on nights out?

Jeeez! Well, she wasn't raped and she is still alive so both possible attempts were failed!
But it is because her reaction was so violent. I've seen her less drunk on more alcohol (and less food) before. Maybe she was having an off day, who knows! I'll speak to her later and see how she is feeling but it did cross both our minds that something could have been slipped in her drink. She isn't shy for admitting she has had too much to drink but last night was just ridiculous.

She ate breakfast, a Nando's lunch, I think she had crisps and cup of tea and biscuits when she got home. She was hydrated. Then two and a bit glasses of wine later and she is slurring words and laying on her lounge floor telling the room is spinning and she feels dizzy, then she starts throwing up. Don't get me wrong, all the signs of being hammered but surely not on two glasses? Especially when I've seen her neck more than that.

Oh and Joeluke - 'Ladette Culture'? As in 'women who act like men'? As in 'behaviour that is acceptable for a man but not for a woman?
What a double standard world we live in these days where and woman can run a company, a house, join the army, run the country, but not have a drink like a man.... Interesting!
