getting back to basics seems the answer, although it seems to be a mentallity
of gratification with low fast and processed food prices, how do we raise our children .?
ignorence plays a part, i am determened not to let my children succumbe to the food that equalls waste thats consumming us today.

Instead of idling in front of the TV, Cook for the freezer. Buy mince in bulk - cook with onions and freeze can be used for cottage pie, mince and onion pie, chili con carne, keema curry, lasagne or canneloni, filling for taco's or burritos etc. Same with cooked diced beef or chicken, can be turned into pies, curries, stir-frys in minutes with a jar or packet of sauce and some ready made pastry, or put on a pot of rice or pasta, or bake/boil a few potatoes. Get the kids involved - they grow it, they'll eat it, i've proved it. a child that would only eat chips ate a pizza he's made with tomatoes, onions, peppers on it as he'd grown them with his friends.
Even if you cannot grow your own, make sure your kids know where food comes from-whether it's veg or meat/poultry. Many schools grow their own-if your does-all the better.
Make sure 'bad' food is seen only as an occasional treat...making it totally off-limits may serve to make it more tempting,as they will see their friends have it. Keep them occupied and out of doors,so snacking on the bad stuff is not an option. Cook with them...get them involved in preparation.
