Although i have know for a long time the risk of eating leftover boiled rice, I have never had any adverse effect of eating my home made microwaved Saturday nights leftover curry on the Sunday night.
Apparently rice is one of the worst for food poisoning.A recent tv program said rice produces a botulism that cant be killed by reheating. Any comments please

Bacillus cereus causes food poisoning from eating infected previously cooked rice ...saw it prove fatal in one patient who went into multi organ failure because of this bug... mostly I suspect its squits and sick for most people
The way I understand it is spores will only germinate and start growing if you leave the rice sitting around at room temperature for any length of time.
Any left over rice I have goes straight in the fridge and I've never had any problems either.
I could eat a chicken fried rice right now...

I heard on T.V. that cooked rice, stored in the fridge is safe to use for 24hours after it has been cooked
I bought a lamb Madras from the takeaway yesterday and ate a quarter. I am about to eat some more, but there may still be some left over for tomorrow. I have never had any ill-effects, and it's like getting your laxatives for free.
Never knew rice was so deadly. I eat left-overs all the time, never gotten ill.
Reheating rice can be very dangerous. If you're going to reheat it always make sure it is really piping hot.
Thanks for the tip.
Likewise I've eaten rice a couple of days after, but I suspect it's one of those things, if it's fine it's fine and if it's not it's really not...
The risks with rice are very well known to anyone in the catering industry. I've no idea what the statistics may be for incidences of rice-induced food poisoning-but it's not worth the risk for professionals.
Me too Nox. I usually cook enough rice to last the week or sometimes two and leave it in the fridge. Never had a problem yet. (Knock on wood)
That is most likely because you have stored it properly, society...but I do think up to 2 weeks is pushing it.
Then there is always cast-iron stomach syndrome... :-))
I've never had any problem when reheating rice.
I keep it and eat it all the time, ditto with pasta, but then I am famous for eating three-month-old yoghurt. Never had a problem as far as I am aware, we don't like wasting stuff.
