How much food will you waste this Xmas?

We've only bought extra for today, and we've got friends coming later this afternoon and for well into the night, so that lot will be long gone!

And on the slim chance any is left over, we've a dog....

We had a bigger chicken than usual, bought a pork pie as a treat ('cos I love it but don't usually eat it) and we bought a tin of biscuits for cheese and a variety of cheeses. Oh, and a christmas pudding. Anything else is stuff that we would have normally anyway.
It will not end up in the bin; I don't waste food. Anything that is nearing it's time gets made into something else and/or frozen.
We did pig out a bit yesterday but not today.
Can't afford to waste food.

I think I bought about the right amount, some freezer food left, but that can be used later, a little waste today as the grandchildren were here and too excited to eat properly, their leftovers will be on the bird table in the morning, so no waste really!

I don't waste anything. IF - and that is a big if, there is anything left over it goes into plastic food bags in the freezer and from there gets used gradually. Peelings and stumps of anything go into the compost bin. My food bin only contains thin cardboard - which we are also allowed to put in there. I feel very self-righteous here - just call me queen of the recycling brigade.

I bought a load of food and a load of booze. But then I have absolutely bugger all intention of going anywhere near another shop until next week.

Anything we get bored of will freeze.

My only cock up was cooking the leeks yesterday and forgetting to serve them (I did have 3 different starters and 3 different main courses to serve up) so I reckon they can freeze for a few weeks.

I doubt any, my family aren't wasteful like that, buy just what is needed and use things up.

Had a small turkey crown as just three of us (and the 3 cats who each got their share) and we use it for both Christmas and Boxing Day dinners so make sure all the veg etc... gets used up too.

Peelings go in the compost bin and other suitable leftovers, if any, go out for the birds.

I got sent back home with a care package too for me and my cats :)

Starbuckone, if you shred the thin cardboard it is a good addition to the compost bin, especially if you compost a lot of veggie peelings etc that tend to be a little on the wet side.

Quite a few things such as the alcohol and frozen stuff will keep until new years so only a bit of smoked salmon which my mum never wants to see again went to molly . . .
